Each D-Link RPS is equipped with an integrated detection circuit that continuously monitors the switching device's internal power supply. In the event of a power interruption, the redundant power supply is immediately triggered so that the LAN switch and its connected devices can continue providing service without interruption.
PoE Power Load Sharing
Not only does the DPS-700 provide power backup in the event of a power supply failure in the PoE switch, but it also supports PoE power load sharing. When cascading the DPS-700 with a device's internal power supply, the power system can provide an additional 370W of PoE power budget to the switch to support more powered devices. This is ideal for deployments with high-density PoE requirements such as surveillance systems, enterprise wireless networks, and VoIP installations.
Professional Rack-Mount Installation
The DPS-700 is housed in a solid metal case and features a 1U high, 19-inch standard-size rack mount design, making it easy to install in the same equipment rack as the switching device that it connects to. The unit features LED status indicators that show at a glance whether the RPS is operating normally (on) or has failed (off). With sockets to AC power sources on one end and connection to a switch's internal power supply on the other end, installation is straightforward and efficient.
