Vertiv Geist Switched Outlet Level Monitoring Rack PDU with Remote Control

    Description

Vertiv Geist Switched Outlet Level Monitoring Rack PDU

The Vertiv Geist Switched Outlet Level Monitoring Rack PDU delivers comprehensive power management for data centers and IT infrastructure with granular outlet-level monitoring and remote switching capabilities. This intelligent rack power distribution unit tracks power consumption data for all connected equipment while providing the ability to remotely turn on, turn off, or reboot individual outlets. Perfect for data centers, server rooms, network closets, and enterprise IT environments, this switched PDU helps prevent circuit overloads, maximise uptime, and reduce costly on-site service calls.

Why You'll Love It: Key Features

    • Individual Outlet Level Monitoring: Track granular power consumption data for every connected device with real-time metrics including voltage, amperage, watts, power factor, and kilowatt hours
    • Remote Outlet Switching: Remotely turn off receptacles to avoid accidental overloads or power cycle equipment to reboot unresponsive critical IT equipment without sending technicians on-site
    • Max Group Amps Protection: Set thresholds for maximum amperage to prevent circuit overload with an extra layer of protection
    • Hot-Swappable Monitoring Device: Upgrade technology on the fly without replacing the entire power strip as business needs change
    • Environmental Monitoring: Two sensor ports track temperature, airflow, humidity, dew point, and additional environmental variables via optional sensors
    • Secure Web Interface: Monitor remote conditions and manage power distribution through a secure web interface with HTTP and HTTPS protocols, flexible access rights, and up to three account levels

Intelligent Power Management for Maximum Uptime

This switched rack PDU provides real-time power consumption metrics accessible both at the rack via a local LED display and remotely via secure web interface. The embedded monitoring device tracks voltage, real power, apparent power, power factor, amperage, and kilowatt hours, enabling users to balance loads, evaluate energy usage trends, and ensure maximum uptime. With outlet-level switching, data center managers can remotely manage receptacles to avoid accidental overloads or reboot unresponsive IT equipment, significantly reducing downtime and service costs.

    Advanced Monitoring and Alerting

Geist's switched PDUs feature proprietary real-time outlet status feedback that warns you if the actual status of outlets differs from what's being displayed, providing visual confirmation of relay state changes. The PDU can trigger escalating SNMP and email alarms if power or environmental levels fall outside specified parameters. Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology allows you to gather comprehensive power data at the palm of your hand using the Vertiv VLC mobile app without physically connecting to the PDU.

    Flexible Connectivity and Integration

Available in a variety of electrical and receptacle configurations including NEMA 5-15R, NEMA 5-20R, IEC C13, and combination C13/C19 outlets, these PDUs support horizontal and vertical rack mounting options. Daisy chain Ethernet connectivity allows you to connect multiple PDUs without requiring expensive switch ports for each unit. The PDU supports comprehensive management protocols including SNMP v1/v2c/v3, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, SMTP, DHCP, LDAP, NTP, RADIUS, TACACS+, Syslog, and JSON API for seamless integration into existing infrastructure management systems.

    Reliable Power Distribution

Every Vertiv Geist rack PDU undergoes 100% individual testing for functionality and reliability to ensure units function as designed. North American units are UL listed in accordance with common data center and insurance provider requirements. Features include color-coded U-Lock receptacles by circuit for instant identification and secure cord retention to prevent accidental disconnections. Bi-stable latching relays significantly reduce idle power draw for energy efficiency.

    Applications

    • Data Centers: Monitor and manage power distribution across thousands of servers and switches with advanced outlet-level switching and monitoring
    • Financial Institutions: Ensure 24/7 uptime for online transaction systems with reliable power distribution and remote management
    • Enterprise IT Environments: Remotely power cycle unresponsive equipment and avoid accidental overloads without on-site visits
    • Network Closets and Server Rooms: Ideal for short racks and small cabinets with horizontal 1U form factor options
